Medical Aesthetician Beauty School

How to Become a Medical Aesthetician

In order to obtain a master level education within the beauty industry, a student must undertake an extensive amount of study and training that can last for up to five years. Once qualified however, the career opportunities will be almost endless, with many leading beauty salons in Salt Lake City within Utah and further afield offering five-digit salaries to their most highly educated therapists.

To achieve this type of licensing a student will be required to undertake a higher education course and this is particularly the case when learning to be a Master Aesthetician. Not all beauty schools will offer these types of services and those that do are often considered some of the most reputable in the industry.

How to obtain this type of license

Most courses consist of 1200 hours of training, which can be split over the course of a few years. In some cases, students will be allowed to extend the duration of their course if they have a good reason, to a maximum of 5 years. The course itself is broken up into a range of core units, each of which will need to be addressed and assessed before the next unit can be moved on to.

What units is the course broken up into?

The curriculum encompasses 3 core units that cover the following topics:

  • Laser vein therapy
  • Laser tattoo removal
  • IPL
  • Laser hair removal
  • Basic chemical peels
  • Advanced chemical peels
  • Cellulite treatments
  • Pigmentation therapy (laser)
  • Laser skin rejuvenation
  • Facials
  • Pedicures
  • Waxing
  • Manicures
  • Body treatments
  • Massage

Each of these segments will be taught by a fully licensed and qualified professional, and students that enroll will have the opportunity to work in groups or on a one on one basis – as well as practicing their skills on a client. The student will usually be responsible for sourcing their own client, but there are some cases when the beauty school will provide a subject.

How much does the course cost?

In order to become a Master Aesthetician, training will need to be completed to a satisfactory level, but not before the course is paid for in full. It’s worth noting that some grants are permitted depending on a student’s financial status and earnings. The course itself costs a total of $15,550 USD for the education.

This amount is split into an application fee of $50 USD which is non-refundable if the application is rejected. The clinical kit and accessories will need to be paid for in advance and cost a total of $1,000 USD – and will remain the property of the student even after the course has been completed. The tuition is the most expensive barrier, costing $14,500 USD, but as mentioned above – some grants are available.

Finally, a uniform kit will be required and this will cost roughly $175 USD. With all of the above a student can readily begin their education – and once qualified, could go on to become one of the most highly sought-after beauty therapists in the industry.
